Richmond has been named “Best River Town” by Outside Magazine and one of the happiest cities in the country by the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research. Needless to say, people love it here. If all those accolades haven’t sold you, maybe this list will.
- Check out, and check in, the hottest hotel in town – Quirk. VCUarts Associate Professor Susie Ganch has a piece she created hanging in its lobby.
- Stroll through Hollywood Cemetery.
- Walk across the suspended bridge over to Belle Isle.
- Drive (or walk if you’re feeling ambitious) down the one and a half-mile stretch of Monument Avenue to see some public art.
- Enjoy some of the cheap concerts around the city.
- Dine al fresco at one of the many restaurants with a patio (we like The Daily and Baja Bean Co.).
- Visit the Kehinde Wiley: A New Republic exhibition at the VMFA.
- Treat your self to one of Sugar Shack’s delectable delights!
- Visit one of the rotating exhibitions at VCUarts Depot Gallery (with the next ongoing exhibition opening in August).
- And while you’re here, see the rest of VCU and VCUarts on tour.
What are you waiting for? Come check us out this summer. We think you’ll be happy you did. Or, reach out to our Admissions office to chat with a friendly counselor who can answer all your questions!
