VCUarts is pleased to announce that four of its graduate students have been selected for the Mildred’s Lane Fellowship, a working-living-researching artists residency in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Joana Stillwell (M.F.A. ’17, Kinetic Imaging), Wes Chavis (M.F.A. ’17, Painting + Printmaking), Steve Nunes (M.F.A. ’17, Craft/Material Studies) and John Orth (M.F.A. ’17, Sculpture + Extended Media) will represent VCUarts during their one-week residency at the rustic, 96-acre site.
“We are very pleased to have an ongoing relationship with Mildred’s Lane, as it affords our students opportunities that have been referred to as ‘transformative’ by former VCUarts participants,” said James Frazier, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Faculty Affairs. “The number of artists nominated this year speaks to the level of interest there is in Mildred’s Lane and the selection of four VCUarts artists from different disciplines is indicative of the strength of our programs.”
VCUarts Graduate Studies provides funding to support the participation of these artists in this unique program. Awardees are selected through a process of nomination, with nomination materials reviewed by Associate Professor Hope Ginsburg and Mildred’s Lane Co-Founder J. Morgan Pruett.
Mildred’s Lane summer sessions start in June and run through mid-August.
