Virginia Commonwealth University is on the brink of kicking off one of its largest capital campaigns, with a goal of raising hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few years. Events surrounding the campaign launch begin on Friday, September 23, and we’re particularly excited about these programs:

James Branch Cabell Library Event Hall, 901 Park Avenue

Communication Arts instructor Christopher Irving welcomes alumni Charles Vess (B.F.A. ’74) and Reilly Brown to talk about their careers and the comics industry.

“Art and the Creative Economy: A Tour of the VCUarts’ Depot”
2-3:30 p.m.
The Depot, 814 West Broad Street

Join VCUarts faculty for a tour of The Depot. Visitors learn about the building’s history, enjoy the latest student exhibition in the Depot gallery, tour the dance and kinetic imaging studios and experience a demonstration in the motion-capture studio.

7 p.m.
James Branch Cabell Library Event Hall, 901 Park Avenue

Featured alumni speakers are David Baldacci, a best-selling novelist; Tara Donovan (M.F.A. ’99), a renowned sculptor; Thomas Scalea, M.D., an influential trauma surgeon; and Marilyn Tavenner, president and CEO of America’s Health Insurance Plans and former administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
