We chatted with a few of our students to get their best advice for the future class of 2020.

“Get your portfolio reviewed before submitting it. VCUarts offers many portfolio reviews, where you can discuss your strengths and weaknesses of the pieces you’ve selected. Also consider getting your high school teachers and peers to review. However, remember that it is YOUR portfolio. Create something that you are excited about.” – Lindsay, Class of 2018

I gave myself enough time to focus on one school at a time. This gave me room to think through essay questions on top of living my live as a student, an athlete, and a teenager with a life.” – Malcolm, Class of 2016

“The biggest reason I decided to apply to VCUarts is that VCU is the best school for sculpture. I was convinced of my decision when I saw [Professor] Kendall Buster’s artwork…her sculptures look like architecture and was exactly what I wanted to make. I realized this school is best for me.” – Frank, Class of 2017

If you’re thinking about college applications now, you’re on track–and ahead in the process. Keep that up and no matter where you apply, you’ll be able to meet the application deadline.
